| Surviving the Allergy Season | ||||||
If you are among the tens of thousands of Tucson residents who are reaching for tissues and antihistamines come springtime, or making emergency appointments at the allergist's office, then you are invited to learn more about your seasonal allergies and ways in which you can help yourself this allergy season. We will explore the nature of allergies, review some practical tips to help reduce the effect of seasonal allergens, and learn some secrets from other medical systems that are used to mitigate the effects of allergens. We will also discuss which supplements and botanicals are useful, and how to limit your exposure to allergens (short of a springtime trip to the Arctic Circle).

| Top Selling Supplements: Hope or Hype? What You Need to Know | ||||||
We all know that eating a balanced, healthy diet is the foundation of good health but a growing body of evidence suggests that it might be difficult to achieve optimal health without the use of some dietary supplements. The American public seems to agree ? surveys suggest that roughly 60% of Americans are using them. But which ones really do what they claim? A trip to the local health food store or pharmacy can be overwhelming given the sheer number of products in the marketplace ? and it is almost impossible to keep up with the avalanche of information available on the Internet and in the news. Join Dr. Tieraona Low Dog, one of the country's leading experts in the field of dietary supplements and botanical medicine, for a highly informative, engaging and practical talk that will separate the hope from the hype for many of today's top selling supplements.
Dr. Low Dog?s extensive career in studying natural medicine began more than twenty-five years ago. She studied midwifery, massage therapy, and was a highly respected herbalist, serving as President of the American Herbalist Guild and running a teaching clinic in Albuquerque, before going on to receive her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine. She currently serves as the Director of Education for the UA Program in Integrative Medicine, as well as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine. Dr. Low Dog is an internationally known speaker on topics ranging from the responsible use of herbal medicine and dietary supplements to integrative approaches to women?s health; with more than 30 publications to her credit. |

| Healing Sleep, Healing Dreams | ||||||
Sleep disorders are the most prevalent health concern in America today. The impact of sleep and dream deprivation upon mental and physical health, productivity, and the economy is simply staggering. Unfortunately, most people are not well informed about the basics of healthy sleep and dreaming. This presentation introduces an integrative approach that goes beyond the dominant mechanistic perspective of conventional sleep medicine. This new approach not only supports optimal sleep health, but also restores an essential spiritual dimension to sleep and dreams.
Dr. Rubin Naiman is the sleep and dream specialist and clinical assistant professor of medicine at the University of Arizona's Program in Integrative Medicine. Dr. Naiman is also the director of sleep programs for the world-renowned Miraval Resort & Spa in Arizona.
