Shelly Zimmer, MD

Michelle “Shelly” Zimmer, MD is a Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrician in private pediatric practice and an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC).  Dr. Zimmer established an integrative care medical consultation program for children with autism and other developmental disabilities and directed integrative care services at CCHMC.  Dr. Zimmer chaired the University of Cincinnati (UC) Integrative Care Steering Collaborative from 2009-2012, and led UC’s effort to become a member of the Consortium of Academic Health Centers for Integrative Medicine. Dr Zimmer currently serves on the executive committee of the American Academy of Pediatrics Section on Integrative Medicine. 

Dr Zimmer was principal investigator on a clinical trial of omega-3 fatty acid supplements and use of a gluten- and casein-free diet for young children with autism; in 2008 Zimmer received of the Senior Investigator Award from the Integrative Pediatrics Council for her work in integrative care research at CCHMC. Dr. Zimmer has lectured nationally on IM therapies for children with autism and has authored three book chapters on the topic.
